Emergency Preparedness and Security Requirements

The NRC press release:

Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will conduct a webinar on Nov. 30 to discuss emergency preparedness and security requirements for nuclear power plants undergoing decommissioning, with a focus on New York’s Indian Point nuclear power plant. The session will be general in nature and intended primarily for stakeholders interested in such requirements.

The webinar is scheduled for 3-4:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, and will be video streamed via Microsoft Teams (register here). Attendees may also access the webinar by phone at 301/576.2978, ID number: 710275896. The slides will be posted in the NRC’s electronic documents system, ADAMS.

Presentations will be made by staff from the NRC’s Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards and Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, followed by a question-and answer session.
NRC staff will also participate in the Indian Point Decommissioning Oversight Board meeting on Dec. 7, where NRC staff will present information regarding the agency’s inspection and licensing activities for the dry cask storage of the plant’s spent nuclear fuel.  More information regarding that meeting is available on the panel’s web site.
